View at Long Hollow Rest Area on US-20 East of Elizabeth, IL.
[Several photos stitched together showing the wide expanse of rolling hills farmland.]

Closer view of farm buildings from the above photo.
[Several red buildings on a hillside surrounded by open fields.]

Picnic shelter at the rest stop.
Openings in the lattice roof made an interesting light design.
[The light shining through the lattice openings maked a striped effect on the shelter and the table.]

Me beside the corn growing at the edge of the hotel parking lot.
Very high for that time of year!
[The tops of the corn stalks are at least 8 foot high and dwarf me standing in front of them.]

Closeup of the corn silk. Very soft and lush looking!
[Corn silk from two different ears are visible and are shades of gold and purple.]

Two views of a red-spotted purple butterfly with a hunk of wing missing. (Matthiessen State Park)
[This view shows the light blue lower half of the inside wing as well as the obvious chunk missing out of the other lower half wing. This butterfly is in a tree (as it is their habitat).]

[This view is the outside of the wing which is dark brown with gold and white spots along the outer edges and a few orange and blue spots closer to the body.]
