Saranac River seen from New York State Route 3 (NY SR3). Notice the ice build-up on the downstream side of the islands.
[Two small islands side by side in the river. The only ice built up is a triangular shape on the downstream side of the islands.]

Winter Adirondack scenes from the subsequent year
January 20-February 7, 2013

A foggy morning at Lake Abanakee
[The guardrail for the bridge in the foreground is clear, but the rest of the image is misty. Plowed dirty snow covers the lower half of the guardrail posts, but the road is just wet. There is a jut of land with evergreens sticking into the lake. The lake itself is covered with white snow and the air just above the water is quite thick with fog. Although the area above the trees is a bit clearer, the visibility is low.]

Long Lake viewed from a south shore. (The snowmobile tracks were melting that day.)
[The lake vees outward from the shore at this viewpoint. A snow-covered picnic table is at the right edge of the image. The water edges closest to shore are snowcovered except for the area where the snowmobiles have entered the lake when it was frozen. Evergreens are visible on the far shoreline.]

Long Lake viewed from a north shore.
[Most of the ice has melted in this view. A jut of land with evergreens crosses through most of teh image.]

Interstate 87 southbound just before the exit leading to Port Henry
[The highway starts in the lower left heading toward the center then snakes back out of view to the left. Towering above it are tree-topped mountains dappled with snow.]
